Ladetails are just for show. Blanco played 24 matches in the current half of the tournament and started 23. He accumulated 2024 minutes out of 2190 available, a figure that represents 92.5% of the total time. Almost always on the pitch, the 27-year-old has been one of the most reliable options on the left flank.

La carga tuvo costo

Despite the fatigue, Blanco completed the ninety minutes in the last match, played in Brazil. He even provided the assist for the goal scored by Lautaro Di Lollo. The discomfort appeared late in the game and was enough for the technical staff to make the decision. There is no point in risking the player for a game that can be evaluated further.

His attacking work has been a significant addition. Blanco has registered seven assists this tournament, placing him among the team's most important creators of goals from the left side. His absence will therefore be felt both in defense and in the offensive phase.

• Malcom Braida is the leading option to replace Lautaro Blanco against Independiente.
• Matías Satas and Ayrton Costa are also under consideration.
• The team will decide the final lineup closer to kickoff.

Malcom Braida has the profile to take over the position. He is the first candidate considered by coach Rodolfo Arruabarrena, although Matías Satas and Ayrton Costa remain as alternatives. The choice should not be taken lightly: this is a delicate position in the field and any replacement will need to meet the same standard of regularity.

“La peluquería no se discute, pero un lateral no se improvisa: hay que proteger a Blanco y buscar que whoever lo cubra espacio que dejó un jugador que prácticamente no faltó.”Rodrigo Cari, Deportes

The commitment does not end with the visit to Independiente. Boca will then face the clásico against River and continue the fight in the Clausura 2026 table. The weekend will demand physical and mental energy, so the decision to preserve Blanco seems especially sensible.

La pregunta is whether Braida can fill the gap left by one of the most consistent full-backs of the semester. Maybe, maybe not. What is clear is that the team prioritized the player's health, and that is the right call. Now comes the difficult part: find a replacement and go to Avellaneda with the same intensity, despite the cold and the pressure.
